For a while now, I have been reading little else of my own choosing other than Pablo Neruda. His poetry is quite moving, he is syntactical genius, knowing exactly how to make the form of his poems match the subject.
I’m not sure how to suggest him to others however, his poems are in Spanish, and although I know they have been translated… it just doesn’t feel the same. I want to leave one of his poems here, if it’s odd in English, I apologize.
El Desvío
Si tu pie se desvía de nuevo,
será cortado.
Si tu mano te lleva
a otro camino
se caerá podrido.
Si me apartas tu vida
morirás
aunque vivas.
Seguirás muerta o sombra,
andando sin mí por la tierra.
